If he lived anywhere but Central Oregon, where the trails of the Cascades mingle with the warm sunshine and fresh air of the high desert, Dave Floyd would probably be one of those guys who lives and breathes trading and analysis 24/7. And he’d be about as boring as a cricket match. But fortunately for his clients, not to mention his wife and son, he found IT possible to manage Aspen Trading from anywhere in the world, and chose Bend back in 2004.
A native of Lancaster, Massachusetts, Dave earned a BS in Economics from Northeastern University in Boston in 1991 and landed his first gig in the trading industry in 1993 when he joined the fixed income & FX desk of Standard Chartered Bank. The following year, his focus shifted to equities, and he spent the next eight years trading on a proprietary equities desk. In 2002, Dave decided it was time to go maverick and start his own niche FX firm; and the seeds for Aspen Trading Group were planted. Since then, Aspen has grown from a pure prop trading firm into a provider of expert FX research and analytics to both institutional and retail clients worldwide. Dave's two decades of expertise in technical analysis and global fundamentals has led to him being published in Active Trader, Futures and SFO, as well as being seen on Bloomberg television and CNBC. Dave’s vision helped Aspen become nominated for Best Institutional FX Research & Strategy in 2009 by The Technical Analyst magazine in London. In 2010, the company was nominated for Technical Analyst of The Year
And if that weren’t enough, Dave recently completed his EMBA (Executive MBA) at The University of Oxford Said Business School, in Oxford UK. But as we said, there’s more to Dave than just trading and analysis. He also gets excited about skiing, mountain biking, CrossFit, watching his son play soccer and of course, Bend’s famous microbrews. Those are things he won’t trade for anything.
Whether he’s providing analysis and trading perspective to a worldwide TV audience or speaking at an international trading conference in Beijing, Todd relishes being the urban cosmopolitan side of the Aspen Trading Group equation, as well as a principal in the money management company Floyd, Gordon & Partners.
He lives by the mantra – Plan Your Trade, Trade Your Plan. Born and raised on the East Coast and now living in the Big Apple, Todd cut his teeth in Dave's proprietary trading office located on the beaches of San Diego, CA in 2001. After a brief stint at TradingMarkets.com in Los Angeles, CA Todd accepted a job at FOREX.com and returned home to the east coast. He served a dual role as Senior Technical Strategist at FOREX.com, and Senior Trader for GAIN Capital Asset Management, the parent company of FOREX.com on Wall Street. Todd was one of six traders at GAIN Capital Asset Management responsible for trading capital in excess of $10 Million. He quickly gained the loyalty of traders around the world with his highly disciplined and transparent approach to trade management, not to mention his light-hearted and energetic speaking and media presence. He is a regular contributor on CNBC’s Fast Money and Money in Motion shows and has provided his expert analysis of the global market on Bloomberg, BNN, and Dow Jones online, among others.
A highly respected Elliott Wave practitioner, Todd is a much in-demand speaker at trading conferences across the country and around the world. When he isn’t stamping his passport in Europe, Asia, Australia or the Middle East, Todd can often be found guiding and entertaining his large following through the market day on Twitter at www.twitter.com/toddgordonforex.
But Todd isn’t always attached to a blackberry and a laptop. While attending St. Lawrence University in upstate New York, Todd competed on their Division I alpine ski team and continues to enjoy hitting the slopes in the winter. When summer rolls around, he likes to roll balls around a golf course until they disappear in a hole.
A born and raised Floridan living in downtown Orlando, Bart is happy to bring a ‘southern coastal’ perspective to Aspen. An accomplished sailor and photographer (eolaphotography.com), Bart has had the unique opportunity to have traveled all over the world educating investors and traders about the opportunities (and pitfalls!) involved with trading Forex.
After graduating with a BS in Business Finance from the University of Central Florida in ’97, Bart immediately began working as an assistant trader at a small prop desk called International Asset Allocation Assoc. (IAAC) specializing in trading international equities and ADR’s. After working his way up to an equity market maker in Asian equities Bart moved to Morgan Stanley in ’00 to run a department dedicated to educating new online investors how to better trade the markets.
In ’02 Bart took a unique position with Globaltec Corporation, a trading software provider, to travel across the world teaching new investors and traders the techniques of the pros. Educating on trading equities, options, forex and commodities; Bart was later offered a similar position at Forex.com in ’06 to continue traveling and delivering educational workshops to currency traders across the globe. While interviewing with Forex.com Bart met Todd and developed a friendship and working relationship that eventually brought him over to Aspen.
Over an 8 year period Bart has delivered over 1500 financial presentations to investors on 4 continents, 11 countries, 41 US states. Today he educates and assist Aspen Traders from his office in Florida where he trades Forex with his two dogs, Wally and Stewie.
